I used to think that talking about the weather was something that I should never do- that it was a sign of being boring and old. I have become older, and a bit more "boring" and now I love talking about the weather. You know why? Because it has everything to do with how one's mood will be, it can make or break plans and it is constantly changing and often unpredictable.
It has become something that I love to talk about: the perfect weather can yield a very happy patio brunch experience, and in the case of rain showers, you are allowed to be lazy and wear your lovely duck covered wellies. I often talk about how the AZ sun wills me out of my bed on days when I'm feeling down. The sun provides a blinding light in which the to do list is illuminated like woah.
Not only do I like talking about weather, but apparently the people that I surround myself with feel the same way because one of the first questions people ask when I mention my move to Shanghai is what the weather is like the Shang.
Here's the low down on what the weather is like in Shanghai: Humid, subtropical climate that experiences all 4 seasons. The winters are chilly and damp, with only 1-2 days of snowfall. Summers are hot and humid, with less than ten days a year where the temperature reaches something higher than 95 degrees. The average temperature in January is 40 degrees, and the average in July is 82 degrees.
Sounds good to me- not crazy awful winters a la Michigan, and no 115 degree summers a la Arizona. Getting away from those extremes sounds like the right choice for my 30 year old balanced self.
